The Social Work Disability Justice League (SWDJL) is a collective of social workers, educators, and community advocates committed to transforming practice, policy, and pedagogy through the principles of Disability Justice. We believe that true social work must center the leadership and lived experiences of disabled people, recognizing disability as a natural and valuable part of human diversity.
Grounded in the intersectional framework of Disability Justice—which emphasizes anti-capitalism, cross-movement solidarity, sustainability, collective access, and the leadership of the most impacted—we work to dismantle ableism within social work institutions, challenge systemic barriers, and build liberatory practices that honor the wholeness of every person. SWDJL is more than an organization; we are a movement of practitioners, scholars, and activists reimagining what social work can be when disability justice leads the way.
